Even after charging it yesterday it wouldn’t start this morning.
My nice neighbour who owns the house on the corner across from my place happened to be there when I went outside to have a coffee and to read for my philosophy essay this morning. The house itself has been empty since his mum passed away a couple of years ago but since he and his 19 year old niece own it together (neice lives with him amd his wife as parents died) he maintains it and we have become friendly, always having a chat when we see each other.
When he saw me he came over to say hi. I explained what was going on with my bike. He advised that if I can access the battery to charge it then I should also be able to remove it and replace it with a new one.
I was really nervous about riding it to store in the first place in case it died at a red light or something and wouldn’t start again and my neighbour said the same thing. He showed me how to remove it and explained how to put it back together since he’d been gone by time I got new one etc..
Yesterday the motorbike store said the battery cost’s $87 plus labour $20-$30. Yet I was able to buy the exact same battery brand new elsewhere for $38.73!! I couldn’t believe the difference but was very happy my neighbour suggested it this way.
And now I am extremely happy and proud to say that I was able to install the new battery all by myself! Checked everything and rode out to street to turn it around to put back in the shed. Bike is in great working order again but I on the other hand still need a lot more practice 😁
The rain has just started and it’s meant to rain for a few days, so perfect weather to smash out some of my essay I really need to write 😅
