So much for riding my motorbike today..it turned on twice and was fine but when I went to leave it was flat again šŸ˜«

The store I was going to is sort of like an industrial dead end road and I happened to notice a motorbike repair shop on the way past. Literally a few buildings down from where I was going.

So, after getting what I needed for my plants, I stopped by the motorbike place and explained what had happened..

This being that I have not riden it in a long time due to lockdown but had recently charged it overnight approximately a week ago. I had also started it a few times in between and it had turned on just fine. Exactly like it did when I first checked it would start before putting all my riding gear on. It turned on easily.

I then went and did everything I needed to do, put wallet and phone in backpack, put boots, jacket, helmet and gloves on. Then I went back out to my bike and turned it on, once again, easily, and rode it out of the undercover shed type area I have at my house, and into the driveway. All without any problems.

So, I turn it off so that I can go back and lock the gates to my yard. I get back on a few minutes later and go to start it. The lights turn on but engine won’t kick over. I tried it a few times but it was dead.

Obviously I then just drove to the place I needed to go and got what I needed. Which is when I decided to stop at the store and ask what to do.

I have been told that bikes need to be charged at least once a week if not being riden regularly. Apparently just turning them on doesn’t charge the battery either. This I did not know. Anyway, based on what I told the guy he said it definitely sounds like my bike needs a new battery.

This means I need to charge the bike for long enough to get it to start so that I can drive it to the place for guy to install new battery. I’ve been told cost of new battery is $86 and labour to install will be $20-$30. I figure since it’s not something I can do myself that this is a good price.

So, my bike is currently in my driveway connected to an electric charger, that I thankfully have an outdoor plug in driveway for, charging. I was told to leave it to charge overnight but it’s due to rain sometime tonight or early tomorrow morning. I was told, having it charge in the raiin if it’s cover is on it is fine, but there’s no cover for the cords, so, I’m going to let it charge for as long as possible before I have to unplug it.

It’s now 6:24 pm on Thursday night. Time for me to go organise me some dinner 😊
