I’ve been paying for gym membership for years. Even though not a lot. Since it has reopened after covid restrictions, I have been 4 times. Literally. In months.
Anyway, today I received a message and email saying my payment had declined so I was now being charged the rejection fee of $7.50. I checked my account and there is definitely money in there. It’s my bills account which is set up solely for direct debit bills..
So I emailed the gym first thing this morning and then followed up with a call roughly half hour again. I asked them to waive the fee since there was money in my account. They say I have to prove it. I can’t go back in time and show what was in there when they tried to take the payment.
My friend who I went to the gym with this morning used to be the assistant manager at the gym which is how we become friends. So I know for a fact how easy it is to waive the fee. But they won’t. They would rather I completely cancel my membership then waive the fee even though I’ve been a loyal member for years. This just proves to me that they could not careless about their actual members and like so many other things, it’s always just all about the money.
I’m so angry right now that I truly never want to give this gym another cent of my money. I know this is all over $7.50 but to me it’s the principle. But either way I’m so angry and upset that I am about to cry..
So I’m chopping a mix and walking away from my philosophy stuff right now, because I can’t focus like this
UPDATE: I have attached a screen shot of the message my friend who used to work at the gym said… explains everything…
