For the past few weeks my house hasn’t been keeping heat. I obviously didn’t do a very good of looking around and actually checking why..

Anyway, I was just outside putting the bin on the nature strip for collection and as I walked back towards my house for some reason I went up to the window.

The thing about my house you need to know is that it is going to be demolished at some point so the owners can build new town houses. This property was never going to be rented out and was instead only going to be used as storage. Now instead I rent it out for $100 a week. 3 bedroom,  1 bathroom,  huge backyard and undercover parking for my motorbikes.

I absolutely love my home, especially considering the rent I pay, I never have to deal with inspections and can literally do whatever I like since the house is being knocked down.

With that comes the faults that come with an old home. Like I have probably paid about a $1000 – $1200 in plumbing, but again I pay $400 a month rent so it’s fine

Back to the window. The latch broke a couple of years back. I fixed it by jamming a steal rod between the frames to keep it closed. The rod is now missing.

Immediately I messaged my gardener asking if he had seen and moved a pole when doing the lawns but he said no. If Boss had some how knocked it out it would be on the ground under the window.

I am absolutely positive it is the kids next door. When the new neighbour moved in waiting to see if he would get custody of his kid when the 14 year old gets out of juvenile detention. Kid has a 16 year old girlfriend. I welcomed them to the street, and well that’s another story for another day..

Although I do actually have to explain one little bit.. the kids locked themselves out of the house one day with no keys to get back in and the father at work. So I helped them get back inside. Unfortunately, it’s relatively easy.

I know this could make you point out it could have been anyone, but nothing has been taken from my house so I have no actual proof other than the window now being a third of the way open at the top and no sign of the rod anywhere.

And even though I know I will never be totally sure, I do distinctly remember thinking to myself on a number of different occasions .. “hmm I don’t remember that being like that” and experiencing the feelings that someone had been in my home and just messed up a few things to try and mess with my head.

I have no idea how long it will be before I am given notice. The rent is why I deal with the house slowly falling down around me. But I have never worried about my safety and am not saying I’m worried now, but the fact that I know my house is extremely easy to break into, and I’m at the point where I need to call the plumber again, I guess I can see why it might be worth at least looking at rental listing’s.

Thankfully when it comes to new homes, I have full faith that the Universe will bring me exactly what I need. It has been for the past 6 years ♡
